we read: “The Word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it” (Hebr. 4:2). But faith, which is so necessary for the acceptance of this Gospel promise, is wrought in the heart of man by this very promise, for “faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God” (Rom. 10:17).
